What to watch for on AEW Grand Slam

We’ve reached the finals of the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions as Jon Moxley will battle Bryan Danielson for the vacant AEW World Championship. The title was vacated two weeks ago in the aftermath of the CM Punk-Elite brawl following All Out and the company quickly moved forward with a tournament. Danielson got to this point by defeating “Hangman” Adam Page and Chris Jericho while Moxley took down Sammy Guevara to reach the final.

Keep in mind that MJF owns the chip from Casino ladder match at All Out, guaranteeing him a title match in the future. There’s a possibility that the company could do a “cash in” gimmick similar to the WWE’s Money in the Bank, but we’ll see.

The show will also be stacked with four other title matches this evening. In a rematch from All Out, Swerve in Our Glory will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against the Acclaimed. Toni Storm will defend the interim AEW Women’s World Championship against Britt Baker, Athena, and Serena Deeb in a four-way match. AEW All-Atlantic Champion Pac will put his belt on the line against Orange Cassidy and ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli will defend his title against Chris Jericho.

AEW Dynamite returns to your screens tonight with a new episode coming live from the Wolstein Center in Cleveland.

We’re getting closer and closer to the All Out pay-per-view next Sunday and the company will make one last pit stop in northeast Ohio before spending all of next week in the Chicago area. In a surprise twist, we’ll be getting the All Out main event tonight...well, at least that’s what’s been scheduled.

What to watch for on AEW Dynamite

The undisputed world championship will be decided tonight as AEW World Champion CM Punk will battle interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley for the gold tonight. This was going to be the main event of All Out in 11 days but after the two had a heated exchange on last week’s show, the title match was moved up to tonight. It’s a curious decision to give away the ppv main event on free tv the week before and one has to wonder if there will be some kind of bait-and-switch angle that will set up the ppv match in Chicago. Either way, we’ll see how this plays out.

The tournament to crown the inaugural AEW Trios Champions continues tonight as Will Ospreay and Aussie Open will team up to face Death Triangle. The winner will advance to the semifinals to face the Elite, who defeated Andrade El Idolo, Rush, and Dragon Lee last week with a returning Kenny Omega. Given Ospreay’s public online beef with Omega, that’s the semifinal showdown we’ll most likely get.

Also on the show, after being turned on by his sons, Billy Gunn will go one-on-one with his son Colten Gunn. We’ll also hear from Ricky Starks, where he’ll most likely challenge former partner Powerhouse Hobbs to a match at All Out.

All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite, or as it is more commonly known AEW Dynamite, is one of the most popular professional wrestling shows on TV — not quite as popular as WWE Raw and SmackDown, but a contender. And if you are a fan, you don’t want to miss an episode. Thankfully, cord-cutters don’t need to. Read on to find out.

If you are looking for a mainstream alternative to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), you should consider watching shows produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Dynamite is currently the promotion’s flagship show, and it is broadcast live on Wednesday nights. In addition to Dynamite, AEW produces pay-per-view (PPV) events on a regular basis throughout the year. And its most important show of the year is called All Out.

What Is AEW Dynamite?

AEW Dynamite was the first weekly show that the company produced. It airs each Wednesday on TBS at 8:00 pm.

The program features a number of performers that casual fans likely recognize such as Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Cody Rhodes, and CM Punk. It also features a variety of female performers such as Dr Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, and others who have wrestled for crowds throughout the world.

Other prominent members of AEW are Jon Moxley, Darby Allin, Hangman Page, The Inner Circle stable leader Chris Jericho, and The Elite stable members Kenny Omega, Adam Cole, and AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson).

AEW started as a result of the spectacularly successful All In PPV event. It occurred in late 2018 in Chicago at the NOW Arena. Cody & Brandi Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and others wanted to form a new wrestling enterprise. The new venture was headed by Tony Khan, who is related to Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan. And AEW formally started in early 2019.

If you happen to be in attendance for a Dynamite event, you’ll likely see matches being taped for shows such as Dark that are broadcast on YouTube. It’s also possible that you’ll be able to take part in a meet-and-greet event prior to the show. And it’s not uncommon for wrestlers to hang around after shows to sign a limited number of autographs.

Other Pro Wrestling Shows

AEW Rampage is a sister show to Dynamite. It airs on TNT on Friday nights. AEW also has two YouTube shows called Dark and Dark: Elevation that are designed to serve as developmental properties for the company.

Note that although matches that take place on Dark or Dark: Elevation are not aired on television, the results are considered canon. This means that whatever happens on these shows is included as part of a character’s story as he or she progresses through the company.

This is significantly different from how WWE treats NXT, which is its developmental brand. In most cases, when a performer is called up to Raw or Smackdown, no mention is made of what that person did before arriving on the main roster.

FAQs

Is AEW better than WWE?

Although some prefer AEW over WWE, it’s hard to say that either brand is objectively better than the other. In fact, many fans will watch both brands as it allows them to spend more time engaging with the art form that they love. As the upstart, AEW does tend to get more praise from fans, industry insiders, and others who have long been waiting for someone to end WWE’s monopoly. But better? You decide!

What are the main differences between WWE and AEW

One of the main differences between the two brands is that AEW tends to give wrestlers more control over their characters. Conversely, WWE likes to micromanage most of their performers to ensure that they offer fans a product that sticks to the company’s brand. Another key difference is that AEW considers itself to be a sports brand while WWE considers itself to be a content provider.
