Welcome Message from the Program DirectorThe Department of Medicine at Ocean University Medical Center (OUMC) offers a fully accredited ACGME three year categorical Internal Medicine Residency Program, with a commitment to providing comprehensive training in all areas of internal medicine. We welcomed our first class of residents in July 2019. Graduates trained at Ocean University Medical Center will be prepared for a wide variety of careers in Internal Medicine and will meet the requirements of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) upon completion of the residency program. At Ocean University Medical Center, we derive our strength from Hackensack Meridian Health’s unique philosophy that focuses on innovation and a commitment to excellence in patient care. We are committed to becoming one of if not the best Internal Medicine Residency programs in the state of New Jersey. In our residency program we offer residents a diverse range of clinical experiences, both in-patient and outpatient, dedicated Internal medicine teaching faculty and other specialists who are the best in their field of practice and house staff research opportunities. During residency Internal medicine residents will rotate throughout Ocean University Medical Center as well as clinics and other ambulatory sites. Our unique training program offers a balance between the personal and professional needs or our residents. Residents divide their time among general internal medicine and subspecialty services, intensive care units, ambulatory care and consultation services. During residency we will be working together with each resident to create an individual training experience in order to help them attain their personal career goals. We utilize clinical coaches to help with this training experience. All of these resources will provide the residents with the best clinical experience during their three years in the program.
