Change my address on my florida license

Florida requires that you update your address information on your drivers license within thirty (30) days of moving. The easiest way to update the address on file with the Florida DMV is online.

Another option is to go to a local DMV office

It's important to keep your address with the DMV current so you receive any mail sent to you regarding your drivers license. A few examples of mailings you might receive from the Florida DMV include:

  • Notices for Parking Tickets
  • Traffic Ticket Deadlines
  • Vehicle and Vessel Renewal
  • Drivers License Suspensions

All of this information may come by mail and if you address is not updated then you risk not receiving it.

Licensees have 30 days and Limited Surety (bail bond) Agents have 10 working days from the date of change to notify the Department and/or update MyProfile with any changes to their information. Failure to timely notify the department or update MyProfile could result in an administrative action and fine (626.551 & 648.421, F.S.).

We could all use a little bit more sunshine in our lives, and moving down to Florida is a great way to get it. Whether you’re drawn by the beaches in Miami or the Disney dreamland that is Orlando, making a move to Florida requires some careful planning, as well as a trip to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to complete your Florida DMV Change of Address forms. It’s important that you get all of your documentation in order as soon as you can, including your driver’s license and your vehicle registration.

Don’t delay: in Florida you only have 30 days after your move to notify the DMV of your change of address. So before you get your swimsuit on, head to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles office and take care of the necessary paperwork.

Here’s how to do it.
