I went off birth control (had the implant) and was pregnant before i had a period. My mom had been on the pill before she got pregnant with my oldest brother, and it went the same way. But i think she and i are obnoxiously fertile. I have a good friend with PCOS who can only get pregnant directly off of birth control (i don't know exact reasoning, but according to her dr, quitting BC "jumpstarts" her fertility somehow) so both of her boys are straight off the pill babies.

Obviously these aren't the only experiences, but i would definelty reccomend staying on BC until you're ready to begin trying (or be religious about condoms until you are) My fiance and i planned to NTNP for a few months while my body regulated it's hormones. I didn't honestly think I'd get pregnant right away. So while it was a happy surprise, we might have waited another month or two if we had known.

I was on Sprintec (pill) for almost 3 months. I stopped taking it at the beginning of this month, so I’ve been off of it for about 3 weeks now. Within days after stopping the birth control, I bled for almost 5 days, similar to a period, but discovered it was likely withdrawal bleeding. Since then, I haven’t had anything happen. Over the last week I’ve noticed A LOT of discharge, consistently, for 3-4 days straight. I had a slight pain in my side as well.

I’ve heard it can take months for cycles to become regular again, so I don’t know how soon I could expect ovulation to happen.

I never got a normal period! I was on the pill for 4 years, Went off pill Oct 1, immediately got pregnant. Had a miscarriage Nov 17, immediately got pregnant. Now I'm 10 weeks and everything is going great, other than the confused looks I get from my dr when asked when my last period was and I have to say no idea!

That said, I did a bunch of research when coming off the pill and found its not uncommon for it to take 3-6 Months to get pregnant after stopping. BUT clearly that's not a hard and fast timeline 😁

My gyno told me it's different for everyone, naturally, but that in her experience it's minimum 1 month after going off and that it's not unusually to try for a year before getting pregnant. I'm just curious about your experiences and hope no one minds my asking here even though I'm not pregnant - my husband and I are thinking about trying in the fall and I'm debating going off the pill earlier.

EDIT: Also, if you have more than one child, how long did it take to conceive each time?

I’m sorry if this has been asked before, and I know it can be different for everyone. I’ve been on the pill for 7-ish years, and we are torn between whether or not I should get off the pill now since we’re hoping to start trying in like a year, or to take my pills up until we’re wanting to start. Please feel free to also list anything you did to help prepare your body before getting pregnant, tips on conceiving, etc! 😊 thank you all!

Earliest ovulation after stopping birth control pill reddit

level 1

3 months. Most of that was waiting for my cycle to start back up.

level 2

Were your periods irregular at first?

level 2

Yep, went off bc, had period, ovulated and copulated, bam. Pregnant.

level 1

Almost a year. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't happen right away.

level 1

I stopped taking the pill mid-cycle/around half way through a pack, got my period a week or two after ceasing taking them, and then got pregnant the next month (technically the first month).

level 1

About four months. I was on progesterone-only BC before.

level 1

I charted and took LH tests, I started ovulating right away. But it took me exactly one year to get pregnant.

level 1

2 months after being on it for 11 years.

level 1

I was off birth control for 3 months before we started trying. After that, it took 6 months.

Some people get pregnant the first month, but it’s unusual. Sometimes it can take a while.

level 1

8 months. My cousin, who stopped birth control in the same week as me, got pregnant her first month. It really is a toss up

level 1

As soon as my IUD expelled without me knowing. So it didn’t take long. But now I’m 10 weeks and excited for my little one!

level 1

I was on BC for over 10 years, my grandmother passed, and my boyfriend was talking about kids for nearly 2 years so I thought skipping one cycle until I started to feel better and like eating full meals wouldn’t hurt (I’d get sick for taking my pill on an empty stomach) . I never got my first period after stopping, I got pregnant in 2-3 weeks .. currently 32 weeks with a little girl! 😊

level 1

I was on birth control for six years. The time between when I went off and when I got a positive test was three weeks.

level 1

Got pregnant on the first cycle after getting off the mini pill (which I had been on fairly consistently for 10+ years). But I have a Fitbit which quite accurately predicted my cycle before, so we had a pretty good idea about when the fertile window would be open.

    🎃 It's my birth month!! 🍂

Can you ovulate early after stopping birth control?

Ovulation after stopping birth control can begin as soon as your next cycle. Some women think they need to let the birth control “get out of their system” before they can become pregnant. That's not usually the case.

How soon do you start ovulating after stopping birth control pill?

Generally speaking, ovulation will resume two to four weeks after you stop the pill. It may take a bit longer for older women and women who have been on the pill for a long time, according to Columbia Health. In some cases, re-establishing a regular ovulation cycle can take a few months.

How fertile are you after stopping the pill?

You can get pregnant right away after you stop regular-dose or low-dose hormonal birth control. About half of women get pregnant in the first 3 months after stopping the pill. Most women get pregnant within 12 months after stopping the pill.

Can stopping the pill trigger ovulation?

Effects on pregnancy risk As birth control pills suppress ovulation, removing these hormones from the body can trigger ovulation. In theory, ovulation could occur straight after coming off the pill. In this case, immediate pregnancy is a possibility.
