How do you retrieve a deleted voicemail

The importance of Voicemail cannot be overstated. After all, it is the service that lets you know the calls you missed while your phone was turned off or when you were unavailable. But sometimes you may not have the time to check every voicemail you may have received, which is why it can be quite problematic when you lose voicemails you are yet to look at.

Yet, you can lose the voicemails on your device for a variety of different reasons. These include accidental deletion, a system upgrade that doesn't quite go as planned, or a factory reset of the device. This article will share with you the most effective ways to recover the deleted voicemails from Android regardless of how the voicemails were deleted in the first place.

Part 1: Can I Recover Permanently Deleted Voicemails from Android Phone

Before we get to the solutions to help you recover the deleted voicemails on your Android device, it is important to first of all talk about the possibility of recovery. The question we get most from our users is whether permanently deleted voicemails can be recovered. This is a valid question since we all believe that a backup is necessary for the recovery of data, but what if you don't have a backup for the voicemails?

Backups are very important in helping you safeguard the data on your device and if you lose the data on your device, all you have to do is restore the backup and you get your data back. But we have all been in situations where the data we've lost is not included in the backup or we simply didn't have time to create a backup. In this case, most people write off the data as completely and permanently lost. But this isn't the case. As long as the deleted voicemails have not been overwritten, they can be easily recovered, but you would have to use a data recovery tool to get the voicemails back on the device.

Part 2: Reasons behind Deletion of Android Voicemail

Like we've already seen, there are very many reasons behind the deletion of Android voicemails. The following are however the most common of these reasons;

  • Accidental deletion is the most common cause of data loss; you can accidentally hit "delete" instead of "save" and the voicemail is gone.
  • An Android system upgrade that doesn't quite go as planned is also another common cause of data loss on your device
  • Hardware damage to the device can also cause unexpected data loss
  • A factory reset may be one of the best ways to fix various software related issues on the device, but it can cause total data loss

If you have lost or accidentally deleted voicemails on your device, there are two effective ways to get them back. These include the following;

Method 1: Recover Deleted Voicemail with the Voicemail App

It is possible to recover deleted voicemails from the Voicemail on your Android device. To use this method, follow these very simple steps;

Step 1: Open the Voicemail app on your device and then tap on the "Menu" button

Step 2: In the options presented, select "Deleted Voicemails" and you should see a list of voicemails that have been deleted. Tap and hold on the message you would like to recover.

Step 3: A checkmark will appear next to the message (in some device models, a contextual menu will appear). Either way, select the message and then tap "Save" to recover the voicemails.

When the iPhone originally launched, it brought with it a new way of doing voice mail.

No longer did users have to dial a random number to listen to each voice mail played back, all the while interacting with a computer voice. Visual voice mail allows you to skip the voice mails you don't want to listen to, and get to the messages that are truly important. One small feature of visual voice mail is the ability to restore deleted voice mails.

Restoring a deleted voice mail is simple and painless:
