WHAT IS ULTRASONIC CAVITATION?

Ultrasonic cavitation is a simple procedure that relies on sound waves to flush fat from the body instead of intensive surgery. Put simply, ultrasonic cavitation is a weight-loss treatment that uses low-frequency sound waves to burst fat cells, which may result in lost inches on the treated areas and (ultimately) a slimmer figure. It's been growing in popularity over the last few years because while traditional liposuction requires surgery to remove fat, this procedure doesn't. To keep you informed, we've compiled answers to all your most pressing questions about the process below:

HOW DOES ULTRASONIC CAVITATION WORK?

During an ultrasonic cavitation procedure, noninvasive machines target specific body areas with low-frequency sound waves (they're what put the "ultrasonic" in "ultrasonic cavitation") and, in some cases, light suction. This process heats and vibrates the layer of fat cells below the skin's surface. The pressure eventually causes the fat cells to liquefy and release their contents into the bloodstream.

Proponents of the procedure believe that the body is then able to process these fatty acids through its proverbial waste-disposal plant: the lymphatic system.

DOES ULTRASONIC CAVITATION WORK?

Yes, but results may vary! Depending on your individual health history and body type, you may slim down more or less dramatically than others.

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?

Results can vary greatly from patient to patient. However, you should see:

  1. Reduced circumference in the treated area (due to fat-cell release)
  2. An overall contoured appearance (due to a combination of the benefits listed above)

WILL IT TREAT CELLULITE?

According to doctors on RealSelf, ultrasonic cavitation probably doesn't do anything for cellulite. However, as noted in our video above, there have been some anecdotal reports of cellulite reduction from people who have had ultrasonic cavitation.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED? HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BE TREATED TO SEE RESULTS?

Although most practices that offer ultrasonic cavitation claim you'll see results after the first session, they also caution that between 8 and 12 sessions are needed for optimum results. The exact number of treatments needed will vary due to factors such as age, weight, and the area being treated. Each treatment should take about 30–50 minutes.

IS THIS PROCEDURE INVASIVE?

No.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

No.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MACHINES USED FOR ULTRASONIC CAVITATION? ARE THERE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THEM?

"Ultrasonic cavitation" is a catchall term for noninvasive liposuction that works through low-frequency sound waves. Different spas and doctor's offices use different devices to perform their procedures. Though similar, the machines can differ when it comes to the precise frequency and concentration of the sound waves. Some commonly used machine brands are UltraShape and Cavi-Lipo.

VASER Liposuction vs. Ultrasonic Cavitation

While VASER and ultrasonic cavitations treatments both use ultrasound waves to remove fat, VASER is a type of surgical liposuction. It still involves incisions and a longer recovery period.

HOW LONG DO ULTRASONIC CAVITATION RESULTS LAST?

Ultrasonic cavitation does not destroy fat cells; rather, it empties them of their contents, which means the cells are capable of storing fat again. A balanced diet is the only way to ensure lasting results. Those who take in more calories than they burn will see their improvement start to decrease over time.

29Bodysculpting treatments are hugely popular at the moment with hardly any spa or clinic not offering some sort of fat-reducing service. While fat-freezing cryolipolysis, and fat-melting laser treatmentscan be very effective, they are on the pricey side as well as requiring at least an hour of clients’ time.

A faster, less painful fat reducing treatment is Ultrasound Cavitation, which can literally be performed during your lunch break. However, it requires diligent post-treatment care in order to show visible results. Founder and Director of Lux Allure, Carly Porter, explains the importance of her fat cavitation at-home after care plan:

I explain to my clients that the after care is crucial for achieving the best resultsfrom ultrasound fat cavitation treatments. The after care for ultrasound fat cavitation is detailed, however it is worth sticking to. In my experience, the treatment will only work at its optimum if the after care is followed.

To ensure your body responds well to ultrasound fat cavitation, drink 1.5L of water prior to and following your treatment. Stagger 2L intake of water over 24 hours, for three days post-treatment. I always have my 2L bottle with me, which encourages me to keep up my water intake.

The ultrasound fat cavitation treatment works by eliminating fat and toxins via the lymphatic and urinary systems. The body requires three days to properly eliminate the fat and toxins after a treatment. Treatment intervals also need to reflect this; at least three days must pass between each session. For most clients, I recommend a minimum of between six and ten fat cavitation treatments for best results.

It is important to topically stimulate the treatment area following your session. When I have fat cavitation performed on myself, I use a body brush in the shower to promote movement around the area. I use a body moisturiser daily, and I find that liberally massaging moisturiser on the treatment area is also beneficial. I do this daily to prevent fat and toxins from becoming stagnant and difficult to eliminate.

Maintaining a low calorie, low carbohydrate, low fat, and low sugar diet for 24 hours pre-treatment and three days post-treatment will help achieve the best results. This is to ensure your body utilizes the triglycerides (a type of body fat) released by the fat cavitation process. If suitable, I also encourage my clients to stick to this diet as much as they can. Many find this to be a great starting point for maintaining a healthier lifestyle in the future.

A minimum of 20 minutes of elevated heart rate cardio exercise is required post-treatment. This is best to be done immediately after the treatment, and for three days following. This is to ensure the stored energy released by the cavitation process is burnt off. If cardio is not your style, this where infrared sauna sessions may assist, as it has a similar effect on the body.

Additional steps can be taken to achieve optimum results. You can assist your body to flush toxins by following your treatment with the use of an infrared sauna. Lymphatic drainage will help eliminate released toxins from the body. This can be done post-treatment via a massage or using the cavitation vacuum treatment. Both can be completed at Lux Allure immediately after your treatment.

By following the ultrasound fat cavitation after care plan, the results will be visible. It is a non-invasive treatment which requires no downtime, and offers results which are comparable to liposuction.

How long does it take to see results from ultrasonic cavitation

How many ultrasonic cavitation treatments does it take to see results?

Most candidates for this treatment see their final result within 6 to 12 weeks. On average, treatment requires 1 to 3 visits for visible results. Results of this treatment are permanent, as long as you maintain a healthy diet and exercise.

How often should you do ultrasound cavitation?

For this reason, treating multiple areas is not advisable and may not be effective. We follow the rule of no more than 30 minutes of Ultrasonic Cavitation every 72 hours.

How many inches can you lose with cavitation?

Typically you can expect 1 to 2 inches of fat loss after the first treatment and up to 2 inches of loss after each subsequent treatment.

Does ultrasonic cavitation actually work?

Yes, ultrasound fat cavitation provides real, measurable results. You'll be able to see how much circumference you've lost using a tape measure — or by simply looking in the mirror. However, keep in mind that it only works in certain areas, and you won't see overnight results.
