RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- State regulators push to make it cheaper and easier for some people to hunt and fish in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said it wants to make it easier to hunt and fish worry free.
To do so, they're offering lifetime licenses to North Carolina residents between the age of 50-69 for a new reduced price.
Each lifetime license now costs $265 (and $358 if you want to fish along the coast). Those prices are half of what they used to be.
"We are constantly identifying ways for North Carolinians to take advantage of our states wonderful fishing and hunting opportunities. After careful review, we determined offering a segment our lifetime licenses at a more affordable rate was an option we could pursue," N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Executive Director Cameron Ingram said.
Lifetime licenses are still available for people of other ages.

Hunting license expiration dates are 6 (six) months from the date of issue. Hunters must be at least 14 years of age to own and hunt or fish in South Carolina. No one under the age of 18 may possess a hunting or fishing license. A person who owns and hunts or fishes with a hunting license is exempted from the requirements of South Carolina Game Commission regulations and the State's “Hunting Protection and Use of Wildlife Act” (HPA) regulations that apply to any person who: owns a shotgun or shotgun feeding device; operates a tractor or camper for commercial purposes to harvest game; operates a motor vehicle or a boat or a vessel for commercial purposes to harvest game; or Makes a video recording of his/her hunt or fishing. Hunting licenses do not entitle all persons who possess the license to hunt or fish in South Carolina. For most persons hunting in South Carolina, only those persons holding a hunting and fishing license are eligible to take game. A person may legally hunt during any year in which he or she owns a hunting and fishing license. A person may obtain a lifetime license or a yearly license by completing the following online application: SC Wildlife Endowment Fund (WWF) Annual Lifetime License Application. This online application will contain a list of all persons authorized for lifetime residency in South Carolina. Once the WWF has received the completed application, the WWF will notify the person, by phone, mail (if requested) or in person, of his or her eligibility for a lifetime license. If it is determined at a county, city or town level or by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources that a person with a hunting license is not eligible to possess a lifetime license, the person's permanent hunting and fishing licenses will automatically expire. Renewals that include a lifetime license can be done by mail, online, or in person!
