What if I am not on the same provider/network as them?If you are not on the same network as the person you want to call, the next best option is to use an app. There are two popular apps to run this service: Slydial and WhatCall. Although Slydial was the market leader, it has since been inundated with bad reviews because the service only works occasionally. WhatCall continued to work for a while, but also seems to have major issues from January 2021 and only works sporadically. Slydial only works if you have a mobile phone. Even if the landline you are trying to call has digital voicemail, the app will not work. Otherwise, the process will automatically bypass the live line and go straight to voicemail. WhatCallWhatCall is also available for Android (sideload only) and iOS. The app will similarly send a phone call to someone else’s voicemail without them phone dial. However, as of January 2021, reviewers share the same concerns with SlyDial – it just sometimes works. WhatCall imports all of your contacts, so you just have to open the app and tap on a contact. From there you will be connected directly to their voicemail.
