This product does the job, but I'm afraid I'll need more than one initial application to get the washer clean.

After I read an article about cleaning washer, bought this item. Should prolong the life of the washer. Will buy again.

Unique in that you leave in washing machine over night. Emphasis on probiotics/enzymes bloom over period of time. A bit more involved than brands I've used. I will reorder this.

Iโ€™ve only used this once but the washer still had an odor after using. Iโ€™m going to continue using once a month and see if it works better long term.

After an initial use, there was a marked improvement. But, still nowhere close to what the photos show. However, I will continue to use the product as directed, and expect that improvement will continue.

It actually cleans the washer from hard water deposits that cling to dark colored clothing. I like that it works with probiotics rather than harsh chemicals. A good and effective product.

Did a good job at cleaning the tub of the washer. Easy to use.

The product freshened up my washer for only about a day and the dirty smell came back. How many lackeys do I have to use before I come up with a clean scent from my wash and my clothes? Shouldn't have to use too many, I hope.

Tub Clean Cycle

To help prevent odors or humidity accumulation leave the lid

open for a few hours after use or whenever the washer is not

in use.

CAUTION

Do not leave the lid open if there are small children or pets

present. An open lid could entice children to crawl inside

the washer. If there are no small children present, you may

leave the lid up to prevent odor build up.

To clean and freshen the wash tub, perform the Tub Clean

cycle. For best results perform the cycle once a month.

To begin the cycle, select the Tub Clean cycle. REMOVE

ALL ITEMS FROM WASH TUB before adding one (1) cup

of liquid chlorine bleach OR one (1) pouch of Tideยฎ Washing

Machine Cleaner to the empty tub. DO NOT use both. Press

START to begin.

IMPORTANT

Items left in washer while performing the Tub Clean cycle

may cause damage to the washing machine.

For best results

Immediately follow up with a Rinse & Spin cycle.

to help clear any residual bleach left after the Tub

Clean cycle.

Front-loading Frigidaire washing machines can suffer the same problems as other front-loading models โ€“ mold and mildew. If your clothes come out of the machine smelling stinky, the culprit is mildew. If they smell musty, blame mold. The design of the machine leads to this conundrum, which in turn leads to lots of maintenance for the owners of the machines. When front-loaders hit the American market, they were promoted as stylish and efficient, all in an attempt to lure an upmarket audience, who thought the over-$2,000 price tag delivered a machine that would support the price. That was not the case.

Introducing the Front-Loading Washing Machine

In the United States, the modern front-loading washing machines began to get popular in the 1990s. The Department of Energy had set new efficiency standards, so U.S. manufacturers were challenged to design an efficient washing machine like those in the European market. They met the challenge and produced a front-loading washing machine that reduced water consumption by one-third. Energy consumption dropped 58 percent, according to research conducted by Consumer Reports.

Manufacturers designed a machine that involved less water gathering at the bottom of the tub. The dirty clothes pass through that limited amount of water and are tossed to the top to drain as it spins. Sweaty clothes deliver their funk back into the water, which ultimately affects the gasket. To prevent mold and mildew, manufacturers recommend using less detergent, wiping down and cleaning the gasket regularly, and leaving the door open between loads.

Frigidaire Washing Machines vs. the Consumer

Frigidaire was not the only brand that suffered the wrath of years of customer complaints and lawsuits. The Frigidaire brand's machines are lumped into a class of front-loaders that consists of most well-known manufacturersโ€™ products. Even after years of tweaking and fine-tuning, front-loaders couldn't deliver a mold- and mildew-free environment because of the inherent design of the machine.

The instruction manuals that come with all front-loaders stress the importance of regular maintenance to keep mold and mildew at bay. But most consumers read the booklet once, if at all, and expect the machine to perform perfectly. The machine's circular window is rimmed by a gasket, which creates an airtight seal that prevents the water from shooting out during the wash cycle. Inevitably, water seeps behind the gasket, causing mold and mildew to grow. Keeping that door open when not in use allows air to circulate but may not eradicate the mold itself. Wiping the gasket clean is a step toward thwarting mold and mildew.

Frigidaire Washer Cleaning

Giving the gasket a good cleaning using a solution of water and vinegar is the first step toward a better-smelling load. Pour the solution in the detergent dispenser as well and run the machine on empty using the hot water option, suggests PC Richard.

Home-Tech recommends removing the laundry immediately after the cycle is complete. Doing so prevents the buildup of humidity, which makes the perfect environment for mold and mildew to grow. While front-loaders are designed to use cold water as part of the DOE efficiency program, a hot water wash with bleach added to it cleans the machine and debris from the detergents and water softeners.

After every load, run a towel around the circular front window and the gasket, wiping off any water residue. At the end of the washing day, wipe away the water buildup inside the gasket; then leave the door ajar until the next wash day.

Where is the filter on a Frigidaire top load washing machine?

In the front of the unit behind a small hatch. At the end of the drainage hose. Under the cover of your center agitator. Along the top rim of the drum of your washing machine.

How do I deep clean my top load washing machine?

Take some Chlorine-bleach, pour 1 quart into the water filled washer, and then let it agitate for 1 minute. Afterwards, just let it sit for one hour so it can soak. Finally, run the longest cycle you can from your washing machine settings without adding any detergent. One more time!

Where is the lint trap on a Frigidaire top load washer?

Inside the center agitator: If you have a top-loading washer, inspect the center agitator. The cover may be removable, revealing a lint trap inside. At the end of the drainage hose: A small mesh screen may be fitted onto the end of the hose that drains water out of the machine.

How do you clean and deodorize a top

Run a Cycle on Hot Water Without Detergent If allowed, white vinegar is a great addition to a hot cycle with no detergent. It'll help deodorize the machine and kill bacteria. You can then run a second cycle with baking soda and hot water only. The baking soda will loosen any build-up of products in the machine.
