If you're an Apple user, you may commonly use your AirPods or AirPods Pro with your iPhone as you go through everyday tasks or simply enjoy music during your morning commute or run.

While it's very simple to connect your AirPods to your phone, many people may not have thought to connect them to their Macbook.

The easiest way to connect is to use your iPhone, but Apple has made it possible to use them with your other devices.

If your AirPods are already connected to your iPhone, they will be ready to use with your Macbook, provided that both devices are signed into iCloud using the same Apple ID.

Open the case of your AirPods.
Click on Volume control in the menu of your Mac and select your AirPods.

If your AirPods aren't connected to your iPhone, you can still pair them directly to your Mac.

While the AirPods are in their case, open the lid.
Press the setup button on the back of the case and hold until the light flashes white.
On your Macbook, select the Apple menu > System Preferences and then select Bluetooth.
From the Devices list, select AirPods and click connect.

If there is still sound playing from the speakers of your Mac, select the Bluetooth menu or volume control in the menu bar and ensure that your AirPods have been selected as the output device.

When you move back to using your iPhone, you may have to pair the devices again. Switching back and forth between devices while using Bluetooth can sometimes cause connection issues.

AirPods connect to your Windows laptop through Bluetooth, so make sure the functionality is turned on. Head to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and flip the switch for Bluetooth to on if it's not already activated. It's also accessible via the taskbar, and Windows 11 has a Quick Settings option for Bluetooth.

Up top, click "Add Bluetooth or other device."

Find Bluetooth settings in general settings or the taskbar.

Select "Bluetooth" from the top of the menu:

Select Bluetooth to add a new device to pair.

Make sure your AirPods are in their case. Flip it open and press the small white button on the back.

Press the white button on the back of the AirPods case to signal Bluetooth pairing.

Wait until the indicator light turns white.

Your AirPods should show up in the list under "Add a Device." Select your AirPods.

If your AirPods fail to connect down the line or you want to remove them from your PC manually, click your AirPods in the "Bluetooth & other devices" menu, and select "Remove device." To add them again, go through the steps above one more time.

If your AirPods don't connect, remove the device and repeat the steps.

How to connect AirPods to your MacBook

If you have a Mac laptop and your AirPods are already connected on your iPhone, they'll connect automatically via Apple Handoff. Just open your AirPods case, click the sound control option in the menu bar on the Mac and select AirPods.

Pick AirPods from the list of devices.

Otherwise, open the AirPods lid, press the white button on the back (or the noise control button on AirPods Max) until the status light flashes white. On your Mac, click the Apple menu > System Preferences > Bluetooth and pick your AirPods from the "Devices" list.
