Quick and Easy Peanut Butter Fudge

You have a wide variety of choices of how you want to make your peanut butter fudge. I’ve made several of them, and I can honestly say this way blew my mind.

Even the easiest fudge from my recipe box had at least 3 ingredients … until now.

I have to admit that my expectations were low when I first decided to give this recipe a try. Then I tasted it.

Whoa. I can honestly say this is one of my favorites—and that’s based on the flavor.

The fact that it’s so easy and has so few ingredients is a bonus.

A friend of mine told me about this recipe and said I needed to share it on my blog.

She also mentioned that this recipe has been circulating for decades.

I wonder why I never knew about it before.

Although I followed the basic recipe she told me, I adjusted a few of the steps. That’s because I thought it should be easier.

And it was. It turned out great the first time I made it—something that doesn’t always happen.

2-Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge Ingredients

As the name implies, you only need 2 ingredients:

  • Can or ready-made vanilla frosting
  • 2 cups of peanut butter

For exact measurements of each ingredient and full directions, go to the recipe card at the bottom of the page. You can even print out the card by using the “print” button.

I used creamy peanut butter, but I’m sure the crunchy version would be delicious … just crunchier. Obviously.

I wanted more of a melt-in-your-mouth texture, and that’s exactly what I got. If you let it set longer, it will be firmer, but it will still have that creamy texture after you bite into it.

You can use an all natural peanut butter, but stir it first and make sure the oil is well mixed into the more solid peanut butter. Otherwise, the texture will be off.

You can add a dash or two of vanilla, but it isn’t necessary. In fact, I can’t even tell the difference, so I don’t.

I’ve also used cream cheese frosting instead of vanilla, and that’s good too. So use whichever one you like for great results.

If you want to try different flavors, go for it. I’ve heard that chocolate frosting mixed with the peanut butter is delicious.

I might try that next. But in the meantime, I’m going to savor what I have left of this one. I like peanut butter and chocolate equally, so I’m pretty sure I’d enjoy that.

Another thing you can try is adding chocolate chips. This adds flavor and depth to the flavor of the peanut butter fudge.

How to Make 2-Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge

Since this is such an easy fudge to make, you don’t need much equipment.

Basically all you need are a 9” x 9” pan, a microwave-safe bowl, a big stirring spoon, and a microwave.

If you want thicker fudge, use a smaller pan. Keep in mind that the thicker the fudge the longer it takes to set—but only by an hour or so.

First, you can either line a pan with foil or grease the bottom of the pan. I chose to use foil because that makes cleanup so much easier.

Secondly, combine the peanut butter and frosting in your mixing bowl. Make sure it’s a microwave safe bowl.

Resist the urge to stir the because it will be extremely difficult at this point.

Stick the bowl in the microwave for 60 seconds. Now stir the contents. It’s had time to melt enough to stir without too much trouble.

Keep stirring until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Make sure it’s well mixed, or the texture will be inconsistent.

Once it’s well mixed, put it back in the microwave for another 60 seconds. Take it out and stir it again.

Next, pour the mixture into the pan. Make sure to scrape all of the goodness out of the bowl because you don’t want to waste a single drop of it.

Final Steps

Put the pan in the refrigerator in a level spot if you want consistency in the thickness of the fudge. Years ago, I had a tilted fudge pan, leaving one side thick and the other side thin.

Now resist the urge to “check on it.” The fudge will be just fine if you leave it alone for a couple of hours.

If you struggle with the temptation, find something else to do, like a long walk through the neighborhood or a bike ride. Then you’ll be able to justify having an extra piece once it’s ready.

Finally, remove the pan of fudge from the fridge.

If you used foil to line the pan, you can lift it out by grasping the edges of the foil. That also makes it easier to cut because you can pull the sides of the foil away from the candy.

Cut fudge into squares or rectangles as big or as small as you want.

I like smaller squares because then I can reach for “just one more piece” without feeling too guilty. Yeah, I know that’s flawed thinking.
