How to post a soundcloud song on instagram

Starting today, SoundCloud will let you share songs from its app directly to Instagram Stories, the company announced in a blog post.

To post a SoundCloud track to Instagram Stories, navigate to the song you want to share in the SoundCloud app, then tap the share icon at the bottom of the screen. Depending on the phone you’re using, you’ll either select the Instagram icon or tap “Share to Instagram Stories.” It will then open in Instagram Stories, with the album art as the background, and a movable sticker that’s also a link with the SoundCloud logo and name of the song.

Spotify introduced a similar feature for Instagram Stories back in May, and Instagram also recently added the ability to directly add background music to Stories, with thousands of songs offered in-app by artists like Demi Lovato and Cardi B.

SoundCloud has been on a tear of announcements over the past week, including a partnership with rights clearance startup Dubset, opening its monetization program, Premier, for everyone, and new integrations with DJ softwares like Traktor and Virtual DJ. The new feature is rolling out today to users with the latest versions of the SoundCloud app and Instagram on iOS and Android.

SoundCloud users will no longer have to settle for screenshots when they want to share music on Instagram, as the company announced today that tracks can now be shared to Instagram Stories directly from the SoundCloud app. Instagram announced at F8 that it would start letting users post to their Stories from third-party apps, including Spotify and GoPro, and SoundCloud has now jumped on board. However, it should be noted that sharing from SoundCloud only adds a sticker to your Story, and to hear the track, viewers will have to tap the "Play on SoundCloud" link and listen to the tune in the SoundCloud app. The feature doesn't add a soundtrack to your Story.

To add SoundCloud links to your Instagram Story, find a track you want to share in the SoundCloud app. Tap the share icon and then either "Share to Instagram Stories" or the Instagram icon -- what's available will depend on your phone -- and that will add the sticker to an Instagram Story post. You can move the sticker around wherever you'd like, then just add the post to your Story.

The feature is rolling out today on both iOS and Android.

Streaming service SoundCloud is making it easier for its users to share music from its service directly to Instagram. The company announced this morning a new feature that allows users to share tracks to Instagram Stories. However, there’s a big caveat here – the tracks are shared as a link that appears within Stories. To actually listen to the track, users have to click the “Play on SoundCloud” link, which then redirects them to the SoundCloud app to begin listening.

This offers a way for fans and artists to promote their music through Instagram’s hugely popular Stories platform, but it’s not quite the same as being able to actually share music via Instagram, as the listening takes place elsewhere.

Prior to this, people shared their SoundCloud discoveries via workarounds – like taking screenshots, for example.

To use the new feature, you first find the track you want to share, and tap the “Share” icon at the bottom of the screen. You then tap the Instagram icon or select “Share to Instagram Stories,” depending on whether you’re on an iOS or Android smartphone. The link to the track is then shared right in your Instagram Story. There’s a sticker label you can drag around to place on the screen. To listen, viewers click the “Play on SoundCloud” link at the top of the Instagram Story.

This sharing feature was actually first announced in May at Facebook’s F8 developer conference, alongside news of Instagram’s support for sharing from other third-party apps, like Spotify and GoPro, among others.

However, SoundCloud confirms that it simply hadn’t been implemented until now.

The sharing feature follows the recent launch of SoundCloud’s monetization program for artists, and serves as another means for musicians to reach their fans outside of the platform itself. However, because users have to click a link to listen, it’s not necessarily a way to expose friends to new music the way that Instagram’s own soundtracks feature can.

SoundCloud says sharing feature is live in the latest version of the SoundCloud iOS and Android app.

I see many songs that have a speaker icon next to Instagram stories when sharing whereas others do not. Anyone know how?

If you have an android it recently started allowing you to do it. But still only certain songs. I'm trying to figure out how to activate it on all songs.

I’m not too sure what your question is exactly... but there is an option where you can put “tags” on the story and one is music and you can search for the song that way, otherwise from the song directly you can share it to Instagram

Browse through some songs on SoundCloud and press the share button. You can share it straight to your Instagram story. Some specific tracks have a speaker icon next to that button allowing audio preview on Instagram whereas others do not. I would post a picture but I can’t
