Local Lions To Gather At Conference In Phoenix

With one of the largest contingents in the nation, the Lions of Judah of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County will gather with “pride” at the International Lion of Judah Conference. The worldwide event will be held Dec. 11-13 in Phoenix.

Conference Recruitment Chairs Stephanie Ginsburg and Beth Mishkin are encouraging Lions throughout the area to attend, not only to celebrate Lions’ 50th anniversary together, but also to show support for one of their own. Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County leader April Eisen Leavy will be honored by the Jewish Federations of North America’s National Women’s Philanthropy division with the prestigious Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award at the conference.

“I’m humbled and honored. I’m looking forward to celebrating all winners, feeling energized for community engagement and propelled by a hope to do more nationally,” Leavy said.

The Lions of Judah (LOJ) set an exemplary standard of leadership and giving by making an individual woman’s gift of $5,000 or more annually to Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign, playing a vital role in creating social justice, aiding the vulnerable, preserving human dignity, and building Jewish identity. Those who develop a Lion of Judah Endowment (LOJE) establish gifts of at least $100,000.

Also mark your 2023 calendars for Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s signature Lion of Judah Luncheon, scheduled for Feb. 1 at The Polo Club of Boca Raton. Shirley Weisman is serving as chair. More details to come!
