Though Lana’s songs for ‘sugar daddies’ seems to have passed now she’s maturing and entering new eras, it’s still fun to listen to her songs where she is singing about them or for them; these are my favourite 10 songs of that sort of theme, and this is all my opinion Show
10. Kill Kill It’s subtle but the mention of “I’m in love with a dying man” could possibly mean an older man who’s dying and she’ll take his fortune when he does. Of course, that may not be what the song actually means but it works when you think of it that way. This lazy, slow track is seductive with a mixture of her languid vocals claiming she is in the shower and how she’s casually lying in the sand, as well as hushed whispers in the bridge (her “don’t trust anyone” mutter could have something to with not actually giving in to the sugar daddy). It’s just a song to imagine it being that way but it’s so lush and calm, as if she’s pleased with all the money given to her, that I can’t resist it being that way. 9. Sad Girl The “mistress on the side” may not just be the other woman but also a sugar baby. She talks about her man who “walks with fame” and lavishes her with money (”money on the side”) so there’s something obviously financial there. It’s one of my favourites because it’s so confidently collected and sexy, her vocals a little bit higher much like her Lolita songs, and it has a strength in it that overcomes her claim of being a “sad girl”. I can almost imagine her in tennis whites seducing her sugar daddy every time I hear it. 8. Hit and Run This fun unreleased pop song is an example of others in this category, such as Behind Closed Doors and Gangsta Boy. The “white Lamborghini” and trips to London are some of the delights she gets from this man, but the best part is how she sits on his lap for her interview - interview for him to become her sugar daddy? Possibly. It’s a great dance track and has a really bright vibe, though there is mentions of running the world involved. Maybe that’s how powerful he makes her feel.
