The vibrant enamel surface is resistant to acidic and alkaline foods and can be used to marinate and refrigerate without reacting to the cookware. There is no exposed cast iron on this finished product - the black cooking surface and rims are matte porcelain.

This dish works well on induction, ceramic, electric, and gas cook tops. It can even be placed in your oven in temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Porcelain enameled cookware starts out being cast in the traditional method: however, after this process a glass particulate called "frit" is applied. It is baked to transform into a smooth porcelain surface bonded to iron, offering you a versatile product for use.
What is the best way to care for Lodge cookware?
While the porcelain finish is hard, it can be chipped if banged or dropped. Interior protection must be used to prevent chipping if cookware is stacked. For added longevity, pre-heat and cool your cookware gradually. Do not use in the microwave, on outdoor grills, or over campfires. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance.

Enamel cast iron has a permanent place in my kitchen. It's easy to clean, and I like that it can go from fridge to stove top to oven. It's nice looking, so I also tend to serve out of it. This Lodge 3.6 is a great size for large casseroles and deserts. I whole heartily recommend this pan.
I have purchased both the red and the blue casserole dishes and I have to say that the blue is more eye catching then the red. You can put this dish in the oven and then take it right to your table. It is heavy weight and well made. I would recommend!

This Lodge casserole is a fantastic product. It is the perfect size for braising, stovetop to oven, and is really easy to clean. Beautiful color and very heavy-weight. Very comparable to the much more expensive model, highly recommended.
