Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to administer the statutory mandates of the Board of Social Work Examiners established under Title 19-201, Health Occupations, Annotated Code of Maryland. To develop, evaluate and implement administrative procedures to ensure that the Board fulfills its mandated responsibilities. The Board's statutory responsibilities include licensure, disciplinary functions, fiduciary, policy and regulation, standards of practice and public information functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and six years of experience of high-level professional experience, including 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in broad fiscal management, compliance tracking, legislative and regulatory processes, information technology savvy and high level interrelationship skills with stakeholders.

A Master’s degree will substitute for one year of administrative management work experience. A Doctorate will substitute for two years of administrative management work experience. Additional administrative management experience may be substituted year-to-year up to four years of the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable candidates should possess the following:

  • Experience working with the public with a commitment to quality customer service; and, 
  • Administrative experience in either social work or human service settings.

This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. A resume must accompany your application.

The Board regulates the practice of engineering under the provisions of Business Occupations and Professions Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, Title 14 and the Code of Maryland Regulations, Title 9, Subtitle 23. The Board investigates complaints against licensees, as well as complaints related to unlicensed practice. The Board may issue a reprimand, suspend or revoke a license or permit, and /or impose a fine.

Firm Pin Request - Online Firm Permit Renewal
You can now renew your Professional Engineer Firm Permit online. You will receive an automatic notification once you are within 60-days of your expiration date. Testing in jurisdictions other than Maryland (Transfer of Grades)
Unlicensed (In any jurisdiction) applicants who have completed exams in other jurisdictions must apply for a license by examination. During the application process, you will be required to transfer your grades to the Board via NCEES or outside jurisdiction. You must meet Maryland's minimum requirements for examination in order to gain Board approval for licensure. This does not include reciprocity applicants.

NEW INFORMATION FOR THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS EXAM

Effective immediately all exam candidates must register with the National Council of Examiners of Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) for the Principles and Practice of Engineering examination. The Maryland Board for Professional Engineers will no longer be administering the exam. All exam fees and testing administration fees will be paid directly to NCEES at the time of registration. The role of the Maryland Board will only be to review and approve exam applications. Once the exam applications are approved, the Board will notify NCEES of the candidate’s approval. The Board will also notify the applicant that their application has been approved or denied.

The Maryland Board for Professional Engineers no longer prints and mails licenses. After completing an original application or renewal application you will receive an email from the Board. The email is sent to the email address we have on file for you. This usually occurs within 3-5 days of completing the application or renewal. The email will contain instructions and a link to a website which will allow you to login using your Maryland Department of Labor credentials (License type, registration number and password).

What is the difference between LCSW and Lcsw

There are four license types in Maryland: LCSW- Licensed Certified Social Worker – MSW/LMSW. *plus at least 2 years of SW experience under the supervision of a LCSW or LCSW-C. LCSW-C– Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical - MSW/LMSW. *plus at least 2 years of clinical SW experience under the supervision of a LCSW-C.

Can an Lmsw have a private practice in Maryland?

An LBSW or LMSW may not engage in the independent practice of social work until the licensee is approved by the Board for independent status in accordance with this regulation.

How often do you need to renew your Lcsw in Maryland?

Maryland LCSW License Renewal: Renewal is required every two years in October. Requirements for renewal are the successful completion of 40 contact hours of continuing education and payment of a $301 renewal fee.

How many CEUS does a social worker need in Maryland?

Continuing education (CE) requirements for Maryland social workers: LCSW/LMSW/LGSW: Must take forty (40) credit hours of CE every 2 years, including three (3) Category I hours in ethics. At least twenty (20) of the forty (40) credits must be earned in Category I. All forty (40) credits can be earned in Category I.
