WARNING: California’s Proposition 65 Product DescriptionProduct DescriptionQuickly and easily give your wood projects a beautiful, rich color with Minwax Wood Finish. This oil-based wood stain enhances the natural wood grain in just one coat and resists lapping for an even color. It’s perfect for interior wood projects such as unfinished wood furniture, cabinets, doors, trim, molding and floors, and can work on any bare or stripped wood surface. The special formula allows it to deeply penetrate wood pores within 5 minutes of application, and it dries in as little as two hours, making it possible to stain wood in just one day. To apply, just use a clean cloth or wood stain brush and apply in the direction of the grain. Wait 5-15 minutes and wipe away excess stain. The longer you wait, the darker/richer the color. Reapply coats for deeper color. Wait 4-6 hours before applying a wood sealer topcoat. Minwax is America’s leading brand of wood finishing and wood care projects. No review, just pictures of the finish on cheap framing lumber (2x6) so you can see the pattern. The coffee table has two coats and the small bench only has one. Both were sanded with 220 grit prior to staining and applied with a microfiber cloth. The color for this is dark walnut and applied in 40 degree weather in the Northeast, USA. Lastly, these photos were taken the next morning and did appear darker from when I stopped (approx 12 hours)Hope this helps! Had to pour out all of the liquid, then stir and add pigment. You can’t mix it just by shaking or stirring. Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2022 Thi contains quite a bit of red in it so use caution if you dont like alot of red. I dont like alot of red at all. Otherwise I like using Minwax. Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2022 Easy to use and apply. Images in this review Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2022 Minwax stains are excellent. I have used them for years in many projects - large and small. I bought this stain to repair a damage on a serving tray. The "weathered" look was a very good match to the existing finish on the tray. I was able to blend the damaged area into the rest of the tray and it looks great. I did not add a top coat of varnish because I feel the coat of wax I applied will be sufficient for this tray. Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2022 I had previously used Minwax Red Mahogany which was a lovely reddish hue. This batch was dark brown. I used it anyway and it was fine but not the color I planned. Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2022 I included before and after pictures because it really is a beautiful color! It took my 50 year old bedside tables from looking worn and scratched to a beautiful espresso color! I only give it 4 stars and not 5 because it has take over a week to dry (even tho it is advertised as 3 hours) I do live in a more humid climate but this was indoors, with multiple fans blowing in the room. I would recommend this product though just not if you are in a hurry! 4.0 out of 5 stars Great but does not dry in 3 hours as said I included before and after pictures because it really is a beautiful color! I wanted a gel stain for the project i was working on, but I will use this in my shop later. Minwax are good products. Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2022 This is the same thing/quality that I get at Home Depot but I don't have to hassle with going all the way across town and going in and it's the same price. I also really appreciated that it was packaged so nothing would spill, should it accidentally come open. I've ordered several times and never had an issue but I'm grateful that it's sealed, just in case. Came really quickly too. Top reviews from other countries3.0 out of 5 stars Ok Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 18, 2020 This gave a nice oak effect when used on an Aspen wood stool. But when used on a pine table it went bright golden orange. So when used on the right wood I'm sure this is very good, just sadly not for me. 3.0 out of 5 stars Long drying time Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 2, 2020 The instructions for use on the tin were covered by a hard to remove sticker in Polish. The drying time was way too long for internal staining work. Good coverage and colour achieved. 5.0 out of 5 stars Very good product Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 20, 2021 Highly rate this product as cannot get it here in the uk. Fast shipping and delivery from over the pond. Will recommend buyer 4.0 out of 5 stars Great stain but very small quantity. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 12, 2016 Looks really nice. Very warm colour but doesn't go far at all for the price. Just about enough here to do a chest of drawers if you use sparingly. 4.0 out of 5 stars Four Stars Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 12, 2018 arrived on time good stain What is the best stain color for red oak cabinets? The best stain colors for oak. You can stain red oak floors to get a beautiful light and beige color that's all the rage right now (white oak is the new popular kid on the block)… but not without going through some headache! Red oak just doesn't take as well to lighter colors as white oak does.
Can red oak be stained GREY?Be careful with the wood species. Gray stained floors tend to turn out best on white oak flooring. Red oak has underlying red tones, and often a darker gray is needed to achieve the desired look. Stain can turn out blotchy on maple floors as these are close pored species (this blotchiness occurs with all stain colors).
What colors go with red oak stain? For paint colors that go with red oak floors, consider hues that bring out the floor undertones. Dark and cool blue and green tones are excellent for enhancing the look of red flooring. Consider colors and shades such as: Pastels.
