Who Qualifies as an International Applicant?International applicants are citizens or permanent residents of a country to which they intend to return other than the United States. International applicants may be in the United States on an educational, worker or visitor visa, or be residing in their home country. Please note: International applicants who have filed an application for United States Permanent Residency, but have not yet been granted approval, are considered international applicants, but are not required to provide financial documentation. How do I contact my Department?To contact your proposed program of study, please visit our Directory of Programs; you will find the contact information for your department (phone numbers and emails) as well as a link the department website. Your department will be able to give you more specific information about your program and will be able to help you if you cannot find answers to your questions here. See the Directory of Programs In order to be admitted to the Graduate College at Illinois, applicants must meet admission requirements of both their proposed programs of study and the Graduate College. Your proposed program of study office will evaluate your application and recommend a decision for admission to the Graduate College. An official Notification of Admission from the
Graduate College will be made available to you via the online application system. Admitted applicants will be sent an email notifying them that a decision letter is available, and to re-enter the system to view the decision. Is GRE waived for UIUC?Is the GRE required? The GRE is not a requirement of the Graduate College. However, it may be a program admissions requirement. Visit the program website for specific test score requirements.
Does Illinois require GRE?GRE and GMAT tests are not required for admission to the Graduate College, but they may be required for admission to your proposed program of study; therefore, it is important to contact your proposed program of study office for specific requirements. A TOEFL or IELTS score should also be reported on this page.

What GPA do you need for University of Illinois?The University of Illinois GPA requirements vary between UIUC's many colleges. However, the middle 50% of students overall have a GPA between 3.50-3.94. The most selective colleges in UIUC are the Gies College of Business (3.61-3.95) and the Grainger College of Engineering (3.75-4.00).
