How to connect to xfinity wifi on iphone

Comcast provides free Wi-Fi for many its customers where available. Like most free wi-fi, though, it’s unencrypted. Wanting to allow their users to have secure connections, Comcast now offers a WPA-secured “XFINITY” network in many places. To connect you either need to know the password – something Comcast won’t tell you – or you need to install a profile on your iPhone that has the password baked in.

Install the XFINITY Secure Wi-Fi Profile

  1. How to connect to xfinity wifi on iphone
From Safari on your iPhone, visit
    https://prov.wifi.xfinity.com/
  2. Login with your Comcast/XFINITY credentials. This is usually the same as your Comcast.net email, or can be an alternate account you’ve created.
  3. Once logged in, click “Begin Installation”. This will download a profile to your iPhone.
  4. On the “Install Profile” screen for the XFINITY WiFi profile, click “Install” in the upper right corner.
  5. When prompted, enter your iPhone passcode, then click Install again. Apple’s being doubly-sure that you want to do this.
  6. Click Done when the final screen appears and… you’re finished!

Your iPhone now possesses the profile required to connect to the secure XFINITY network. If you click “More Details” on the profile, you’ll see it also adds the fallbacks to the insecure “xfinitywifi” and “CableWiFi” networks in case the secure “XFINITY” network is unavailable.

Do this for every iOS device you have – profiles are not synced across iCloud, and won’t even be on your iPhone 7 if you restored that from a backup.

Bonus: Free, Secure XFINITY WiFi on your Mac, Too

If you want to install the same profile on your Mac, visit http://wifi.xfinity.com and click the Download button in the middle of the page and choose OS X (Mac). That will download an installer package that will walk you through a similar process for your Mac.

When is Apple going to fix not being able to livestream Xfinity? The last OS upgrade seems to have caused a major problem.

Current subscribers to Xfinity services can allow the iPhone to automatically connect to Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. Connecting to available Wi-Fi networks reduces cellular data usage and is included with your Comcast bundle. To streamline the process, an Xfinity Wi-Fi profile can be installed on iOS devices.

Once installed, login credentials are not needed to connect. The wireless network with the name "XFINITY" provides a secure connection from various public places, and areas within range of Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots. Follow these steps to add the profile to your iPhone or iPad:

When you have trouble connecting your iPhone to a Bluetooth device, you can diagnose whether the problem is coming from your iPhone or the Bluetooth device by attempting to pair your iPhone with a different Bluetooth device. If your iPhone connects to one device but not the other, then you've identified that the connectivity issue is being caused by the particular Bluetooth device, not your iPhone.

        Reset Network Settings

When your iPhone connects to a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth device for the first time, it saves information about how to connect to that network or device. If something changes with that process, it may cause connectivity issues.

Deep software problems, especially with network settings, can be difficult to track down. Rather than trying to track an issue down, we're going to reset all network settings and give your iPhone a fresh start.

          Back Up Your iPhone

It's important to back up your iPhone before doing any major restores (such as a DFU restore). If something goes wrong while you're trying to fix your iPhone, having a back up means you won't lose any of your data (such as contacts, photos, apps, and more). Restoring from a back up is a lot more convenient than having to go and reenter all the information that was saved on your iPhone.
