Fast paced but supportive environment.

Staff at United HealthCare Military & Veterans tended to take their responsibilities seriously which meant a high level of investment in the job and for our beneficiaries. The BH UM group was very tight knit and worked exceptionally well together; there was a great deal of mutual support. It was a busy group so there was, at times, a high level of stress but management was excellent in terms of resources and support. My clinical skills remained very sharp as a result of the pace of work, the diversity of situations encountered and because of work expectations and interactions with staff. It was difficult to have lost this contract. There was almost no turnover in the group and, without the loss of the contract, virtually all of us would still be together.

ProsSupportive work environment.

ConsLoss of contract meant the end of the group and all positions.

Busy and mostly-positive work environment

I worked at-home taking calls from Providers with multiple state-funded medical plans. The support and managers A+. Pay and benefits were above average for call center jobs, but the health insurance was not any special deal one might think working for UHC. The call queue was almost always nonstop and we wld be swapped to different states to assist volumes. Many callers were actually outsourced (India, Phillippines, etc) medical claim calls, and the language barrier became harder and harder to overcome to conplete even the simplest of tasks. Most of the US health insurance companies send their customers private info overseas to be processed by questionable 3rd parties. The accent barriers combined with work-at-home only became too stressful for me. I would rather use my plentiful energy and be mobile so I left the job.

no work life balance , or job security

some mothers were adv a day in advanced they would have to work on a weekend and were forced to bring children to work as there was no time to find a alternative to someone caring for their children and were advised they would be placed on a corrective action plan of they missed work. all our jobs are being outsourced to the Philippines and were not adv of anything and workers in the us mainly in Florida are being let go in waves as there allowed to pay lower wages to reps in the Philippines. no work life balance, no job security, benefits such as bidding for new schedule and PTO days which are benefits are tampered with as punishment when on a corrective action plan

Job security and employee concern

Was hired for a specific job, which no one else understood nor knew how to make it a practical job, very lacking in management support of my position and was only appreciated by those who needed assistance in navigating state assistance programs and resources for their clients. Was more of a consult for many persons working in the state of Iowa, but never acknowledged or recognized for work did and was not allowed to use my skills to help them succeed. Upper management was focused on making money and not assisting customers in getting care and services that they needed. No customer concern at all.

We had fun

Atypical day was taking 20+ calls from providers, members, etc. We were the one call resolution. We contacted providers from billing to scheduling appointments. I learned and gained experience in Medicare and also had the opportunity to assist with training new hires. Management was fair, understanding, and caring. The workplace culture was diverse. The hardest part of the job was open enrollment and the increase of call volume. the most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with the customers, the experience to grow and learn and the co worker who became family.

Job is a very productive environment

It's a face paced environment. Constant changes go on through out the day. All have to make sure you read all of emails every day to keep up with the changes that go on with the company. What I have learned from the company is how to provide excellent customer service. My co-workers are extremely friendly and helpful when needing assistance with anything. The most enjoyable part of the day is in the morning when things are slower and we get to kind of talk about our calls. See if anyone has came across any issues that we may need to be informed about.

It’s not what it seems, but it’s what you make it

Overall a good job my advice is find your own flow, use all your resources and be independent. A manager can make or break your experience. Not everyone cares to do their jobs and help is not always available. Most people who got Promotions Hated their new roles and it’s almost impossible to be demoted. Pay is good and benefits are decent but the mandatory OT during peak season is grueling and stressful; especially if you have a family. It can be a really fun place to work at times.

Great Place to Work

I enjoyed my time with Opptum Care. I had to leave due to moving out of state. I would love the opportunity to work with United Health care again. i worked with medicare claims, Doctors offices and Hospitals. On a daily basis, I worked with medicare patients with biling, Prior Auth and claims questions. I went over benefits with members, and coverage and payments with professionals.

Loved it there until I was mistreated

My manager was amazing however. Their HR department has a lot to be desired as they didn't even care I was just a number to them. Work from home was a plus however CEO and HR Department did not care about employees just what needed to be done. I loved my job but if you have issues please know that they all have a script and will not see outside the box.

great place to work for someone with a family or not

comfortable work environment that allows flexible work hours while maintaining a professional atmosphere when necessary. salary is commensurate with other health insurance leaders. Outside of the insurance benefit for the employees, this is an excellent company to work for.

Prosflexible work hours and great leadership

Conshealth insurance coverage is not the best
