And the traditional-shaped body is familiar and instantly recognizable. The Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster Thinline is all Tele. Rockin’ pickup duo packs plenty of punchWhen Fender originally launched the dual-humbucker-equipped Telecaster Thinline model in 1972, they set out to create a rock guitar that would appeal to a new generation of more aggressive guitarists. That’s why they outfitted it with two hot humbuckers. To capture that same spirit, Squier equipped the Classic Vibe ’70s Telecaster Thinline with a pair of rockin’ Fender Designed Wide Range humbuckers. The neck delivers warm jazz tones and beefy overdrive with serious impact, while the bridge pickup delivers the fat, snarling tone you need for searing leads. Top that off with a full set of volume and tone controls for each pickup, and the Squier Classic Vibe ’70s Telecaster Thinline makes dialing in the perfect sound a piece of cake. The magic of Squier’s Classic Vibe seriesSince its introduction, Squier’s Classic Vibe series has been the go-to source for affordable takes on original-era Fender guitars. From the Fender-voiced pickups and reformulated vintage colors to the modern neck profiles, fingerboard radii, and narrow tall frets, Squier has gone back to the drawing board to bring you a vintage-inspired guitar with the smooth playability and tonal versatility today’s guitarists demand. Take it from Sweetwater: From its cool vintage visuals to its great tone and playing feel, there’s pure magic — and tremendous value — in the Squier Classic Vibe ’70s Telecaster Thinline! I have never tried "Wide-Range" pickups before and was a bit hesitant to get one of these. I am so glad I got it. They sound fantastic. To me they sound like vintage wound humbuckers but with less lower midrange meat. And there is a slight peak in the upper mids. The output level is just a bit less than a regular PAF style but still strong. These have warmth and clarity. I love them. I know there are a few companies out there making
nice clones of the original Fender Wide-Range and I may try some one day. But for now, I am completely satisfied with this guitar just as it is. Is the Squier Classic Vibe worth it?The Squier Classic Vibe doesn't cost much, but it's got some cool features that make it absolutely worth the price. There are decent-sounding single-coil pickups, a whammy bar, slim profile, stylish looks as well as a bone nut at a good price!
What is the point of Thinline Telecaster?Thinline Telecaster Sound
The Thinline still recreates the classic chime and twang only now a slightly more hollow and rounder variation of the classic Tele sound. The Thinline also sounds wider with an additional boost of bottom end which is to be expected with a chambered guitar.
What is the difference between a Telecaster and a Thinline Telecaster? The Quick Answer
The standard Telecaster has a solid body, whereas the Thinline Telecaster has a semi-hollow body. The Thinline Telecaster is lighter and has a warmer tone but is more susceptible to feedback compared to the standard solid body Telecaster which sounds brighter.
Who plays Thinline Tele?Guitarists from Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, Gomez, the Hives, Snow Patrol and many other bands were seen playing Telecaster Thinline, Custom and Deluxe models. Fender responded by reissuing a U.S.-built model—the '90s Tele Thinline—from 1997 to 2000.
